We all enjoy coming to Stroud Valley Community School because of the fun things we do and the good friends we make. Our aims are to be kind to one another and to always try our best.

In our class, the reception children are working towards the Early Learning Goals which are within the six areas which are:

• Personal, Social & Emotional Development
• Communication, Language and Literacy
• Knowledge and Understanding of the World
• Mathematical Development
• Physical Development
• Creative Development

This progresses towards the Key Stage One National Curriculum during the year. As the children’s knowledge increases, the work is planned within the framework of the National Curriculum.
We take it in turns to be the class helpers. Our sensible and hard work is rewarded with raffle tickets and stickers, which we love. When we do something really brilliant, we get a special certificate from Miss Sleep.
Each day starts with a short session of settling in when parents can join in with the activities. Then, after the register, we concentrate on literacy, phonics and numeracy.

Things that we do include: learning letter sounds; sharing stories; writing our own stories; using the role play area; building models; making patterns and doing puzzles.
