The Reception class is where children start their learning journey at Stroud Valley Community School. Some will know each other from nursery, others will find it all new, exciting and maybe a little scary, but by the end of the first term, they will all have made lots of new friends and become used to the school routine.
The curriculum supports your child in six key areas of their development:
• Personal, Social & Emotional Development
• Communication, Language and Literacy
• Knowledge and Understanding of the World
• Mathematical Development
• Physical Development
• Creative Development
In reception there is a lot of learning through play, but by the end of the first year we aim to have all the children reading and able to write a range of
words, count to fifty and to be able to carry out a variety of maths activities.
We have an excellent new outdoor area which allows us to learn outside as well as in the classroom.
