In Amethyst Class we enjoy learning and working together.

We learn lots of stories through drama and role play. We make models or characters for story which we film, photograph or draw.

We have fun studying interesting topics. This year will be looking at Space, Fairy tales, Growing with Percy the Park Keeper and Farms.

We love to do art and other creative activities.

We strive to respect one another and to celebrate and understand our similarities and differences.

We also are rewarded for good manners, sensible behaviour and hard work with raffle tickets and have a prize draw each week.

The story this week was the Gingerbread man. We made a biscuit dough and cut out our Gingerbread men. Will he shout in the oven! Then we got to eat the decorated Gingerbread men. Luckily he didn't run away!.
We read Oliver's Fruit salad because we are finding out about healthy food in science. On Wednesday we popped to Waitrose to look at and find fruit from around the world. Look what we chose. Then we all looked at, smelt and TASTED!!!( yum yum ) the fruit. Which one do you think was the favourite?
In Mr Wolf's Pancakes guess what happens? We had to decide what we would have in our pancakes. We certainly didn't have any of the characters from the story in our pancake.

Do you know which story has porridge in ? Yummy. No sugar, honey or jam.
We read the Three Little Pigs this week. The pigs made three houses. could the wolf blow these down? We read the Three Little Wolves. The big bad pig came and used a sledge hammer. Could he knock these houses down ? What would knock these houses down?
We went to Stratford Park to enjoy autumn. We went to look at some art work by Andy Goldsworthy. We were inspired by what we saw and tried to create our own pictures. Do you like the pictures  we made ? We have a display in school. Pop in and look.
To our surprise when we returned to school we found an incredible sight. A crash site, footprints and slime. What had happened ? Had Aliens crash landed? Had a meteor hit the earth ? What message had they left and where were they ? What do your children think ?
Today Hindu people around the world celebrated Diwali, known as the festival of light . New clothes are worn. We had a great day tasting food. Indian sweets were made and curry prepared. We made clay Divas. When they are dry we will light them to welcome people to our class. We especially loved dancing. We couldn't paint our hands so we created Mehendi patterns on paper.
We have been weighing parcels for Santa. They had to be light enough for Rudolph ! We used grams.

We had to use 5gms and 10 gms.

Can you juggle like this ! Wow. We had to pass the plate which was twirling. Can you balance a juggling baton on your chin ? Thank you Mark for so much fun.
First we played musical chairs . Then we played musical bumps. Next we played musical statues. Finally we ate food. Thanks everyone who made it for us.
On Wednesday Amanda Moriaty came to talk to us. Did you know she is the Mayor of Stroud. She wore her Mayoral chain. She told us that Dick Whittington had come from Gloucester and his family had land in Stroud !
We wrote a fairy tale and made the main character. Then we wrote speech bubbles to show what they said in the story. The models were tricky to make. We had to learn how to blend the plasticine to top the arms falling off! Can you see what he's saying ?
Stroud Museum is a fabulous place to go and learn. We met Ann who taught us about fossils and dinosaurs. This is a one eighth model of a T.Rex skull ! Food dinosaurs ate can still be found in Stratford park !
We have been learning to sew. You'll be surprised how well on Sunday 10th March ! First we had to design our puppets. Then we had to cut the pieces of felt we needed. Felt is hard to cut but we did ok. Come and see our work at parents evening.
Today is world book day. Such pleasure reading. We got to go to a book swap and choose new books for home. Look how pleased I am. The Mad Hatter was busy with the White Rabbit all day.
The theme for the day was Alice in Wonderland. The Hatter made jam tarts with various book characters. The monkey from Monkey puzzle was there with the boy who reads books. Rolling pastry is not as easy as it looks.
We made top hats. Twinkle twinkle little bats! Here's Wendy in hers! And played croquet...with flamingoes of course!
Finally we all had a giant tea party.... But the Knave of Hearts..... stole our tarts. Luckily the March Hare had hidden some away!
Thank you to all the parents and children who turned up for a snowy easter parade. The children had a wide range of super hats. I hope everyone enjoyed their cakes from the cake sale.
We decided to 'decorate a cake' for Red Nose day. First we had to draw a design to put on our cake. Then we had to create the image with icing. Some of us choose bright colours.
Julie Howe came to judge. It was her birthday! She choose the best designs. Then gave out certificates. Look how proud we are.
On Wednesday Tamsin came in to school from the Stroud Valley Project.

She brought us seeds to plant. We are going to grow wheat and in September harvest it to make flour.

What will we make with the flour ?

But birds are a problem so we made crop scarers.

The garden looks very colourful. Watch out for the pesky squirrel.

Pop round to see if the seeds are growing.

On Friday we did Big Talk.We tried Market Placing.

Do you know what it is ? We debated. 'Can we persuade a new friend to join our school.' We had to share ideas, explain to others our thoughts, build a picture.
Who's in the shed ? Percy came to visit us today. We asked him about his job. He told us he liked being outside and planting. We 'chitted' some potatoes to plant. Still no sign of them today. We have to watch out for leaves appearing.
We went to Park Gardens to meet Stroud district Park Keepers. We met Jim, Tony and Rob and they brought their tools to show us. They explained their jobs in and around Stroud. Guess 'Who' they found in a bin one day? Thanks to the Park Keepers we could have fun and be safe!
In the' Rescue Party' by Nick Butterworth Rabbit fell in a hole. We had to design, make and test something to rescue Rabbit. Here are some of our great ideas. All of them worked brilliantly. They are up in school pop in.
