If your child is joining the Reception class, they'll be in one of the classes at the front of the school, accessed by the small wooden gate. They'll have plenty to do, explore, play with and learn both indoors and out, under the guidance and supervision of the Foundation Stage team, led by Mrs Hawkins.
Outside, we have a covered play area to provide shade on sunny days and shelter on drizzly days, and a large area for running around and playing outdoor games. Inside there are books, toys, games and various learning tools. Behind the classrooms is a cloakroom for coats and PE bags (PE kit is left here until the holidays, when it can be taken home for a wash) and shelves for packed lunches.
Children are given fruit and a drink during morning break. If your child is under 5, they qualify for free school milk, for which you will need to register, using either the form provided or online at www.coolmilk.com. Over 5s can still have milk if you register and pay for it. Water is available at all times.
We have a staggered start to enable children to get used to their new surroundings and routines, so you will be given information on which group your child will be in and which days and times they will be coming in to school. If your child takes a little longer to get used to school, we will review their full time starting date with you in order to make starting school as happy and easy as it should be.
Breakfast Club and After School Care is available at the school.
