What Is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding means keeping children safe, healthy, and protected from harm. It’s about creating an environment where every child can grow, learn, and thrive without fear.

  • Safety first: Protecting children from abuse, neglect, and accidents.

  • Wellbeing: Supporting their physical and emotional health.

  • Opportunities: Making sure they have the chance to learn and develop.

  • Voice of the child: Listening to children and respecting their views.

  • Community responsibility: Everyone—parents, schools, and wider society—plays a role in safeguarding.

Safeguarding isn’t just about reacting when something goes wrong. It’s about being proactive: noticing concerns early, offering support, and working together to ensure children feel secure and valued.

Our Responsibility

At Stroud Valley Community Primary School we believe keeping our children safe is the most important element of our work.

Safeguarding is Everyone’s Responsibility.

Everyone has a duty to report any concerns about a child / family they may have

Designated Safeguarding Leads

The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) has a higher level of safeguarding training and knowledge than the rest of the staff and therefore acts as a point of contact for anyone with safeguarding concerns.

If you need to speak to a DSL please contact the school office.

CEOP Reporting

The fast pace of change in technology can be overwhelming, but it is important to stay informed.  It is vital that you, as parents and carers, are aware of exactly what computer games and apps involve and what your child can have access to. Click on the guides below for more information.
