PSHE & RSE
PSHE and RSE Intent
PSHE and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) are invaluable parts of every child's education and at Stroud Valley we want to help shape learners who are confident, respectful and responsible members of society. We create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where children feel valued and encouraged to share their ideas, ask questions and develop a positive understanding of themselves and others. We make meaningful links with everyday life so that children can see how the knowledge and skills they learn will help them now and in the future, showing them that everyone can make positive choices and reach their full potential.
We want children to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to build healthy relationships, understand and manage their emotions, keep themselves physically and mentally healthy, and make informed and responsible decisions. Through discussion, reflection and collaborative learning, children learn to respect different views, celebrate diversity and understand the importance of kindness, empathy and resilience. We encourage children to recognise that making mistakes is part of learning and to develop the confidence to solve problems, seek support when needed and make positive choices.
Our aim is to nurture caring, resilient and independent learners who are well prepared for life beyond primary school. By promoting respect, inclusion, wellbeing and personal responsibility, we equip children with the understanding and confidence to stay safe, contribute positively to their communities and become happy, healthy and responsible citizens.
