Music
Music Intent
At Stroud Valley, we believe that music is a powerful form of expression that enriches children's lives and brings people together. We aim to inspire a love of music by providing exciting and inclusive opportunities for every child to perform, listen, compose and appreciate music from a wide range of cultures, traditions and historical periods.
Through practical and engaging experiences, children develop their musical knowledge, skills and confidence. They learn to sing with expression, play tuned and untuned instruments, compose their own music and listen critically to a variety of musical styles. Working both independently and collaboratively, children are encouraged to be creative, resilient and reflective as they explore and develop their musical ideas.
We make meaningful links between music and the wider curriculum, helping children to understand the important role music plays in everyday life, communities and cultures around the world. By experiencing high-quality musical opportunities and learning about influential composers and musicians, children develop an appreciation of music's ability to communicate, inspire and connect people.
Our aim is to nurture confident, creative and enthusiastic musicians who enjoy making music, value the contributions of others and leave Stroud Valley with a lifelong appreciation of music and the confidence to continue their musical journey.
