Religious Education (RE) Intent

At Stroud Valley, we believe that Religious Education plays an important role in helping children understand themselves, others and the diverse world in which they live. We aim to develop curious, respectful and open-minded learners who value different beliefs, cultures and traditions and appreciate the contribution they make to our local, national and global communities.

Through engaging and thought-provoking learning, children explore a range of religions and worldviews, asking meaningful questions about belief, identity, values and belonging. They are encouraged to think critically, discuss their ideas with confidence and listen respectfully to the views of others. We provide opportunities for children to work both independently and collaboratively, developing empathy, reflection and the ability to consider different perspectives.

We make meaningful links between Religious Education and everyday life, enabling children to understand how beliefs and values influence the choices people make and the way communities live together. Through exploring both religious and non-religious worldviews, children develop respect, tolerance and an appreciation of diversity while reflecting on their own beliefs, values and experiences.

Our aim is to nurture compassionate, informed and reflective learners who leave Stroud Valley with the knowledge, understanding and confidence to engage positively with people of all faiths and beliefs, preparing them to become respectful and responsible citizens in an increasingly diverse society.
